Shanghai Community International School (SCIS) is a nursery to grade 12 international school in Shanghai, China. Established in 1996, SCIS integrates an international and U.S. curriculum at three campuses around Shanghai. The school’s mission is to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring learners who contribute positively to their communities.

SCIS has over 1700 students coming from more than 60 countries. Thirty-five percent of students are from North America, 30% of students are from Europe, and 30% of students are from Asia, with the remaining 5% coming from Africa, Australia, and South America.
SCIS has 210 teachers who are fully licensed in their area of teaching. They come from the USA, Canada, England, New Zealand, Australia, and South Africa.The school aims to keep its classroom size small to maximize personal attention.
SCIS draws from the North American system (grade levels, similar structure of class offerings, daily schedule, yearly calendar), with school hours for student attendance set from 8:00 to 3:00, Mondays through Fridays.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Three or more years of teaching experience
Bachelor degree or higher in Chinese language teaching or education related major
Fluent in written and oral English communication.
Possess a passion for delivering Chinese language and culture to engage students of different abilities and interest levels.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Provide day-to-day instructional excellence to each student based upon the Primary Years Programme, documented units in Managebac and the published school curriculum.
Prepare written daily lesson plans and unit plans, and establish clear instructional objectives and conduct regular assessments to inform student progress.
Provide constructive feedback and ideas for the improvement of student learning in the school.
Actively support and promote the school’s philosophy, mission, and goals.
Work cooperatively with fellow-staff members and administrators in curriculum design, assessment and implementation as it pertains to specific grade levels and programs.
Communicate frequently with parents regarding the progress of their children.
Assist fellow teachers and administrators in planning for school growth and the maintenance of excellence.
Attend meetings and professional development activities as assigned or recommended.
Utilize standardized testing and other assessment data to deliver appropriate instruction to each student.
Make provisions for the special needs of the ESOL learner, and support and promote learning styles, which cater to individual differences.
Actively participate in school sponsored events & activities.
Contribute to after school activities program on a regular basis.
Attend staff meetings, teacher workdays and serve on staff committees as needed.
Perform additional duties as assigned by the Principal.
Preference given to educators with experience and passion for the IB Programme.
